Birthday Party Details, FAQs, Booking

When can I schedule our birthday party?

Party times are available on Saturdays from either 10am-12pm or 1-3pm . Parties are two hours long, please come up to a 1/2 hour early for set up and stay up to 1/2 hour for clean up.

How many children can attend?

You are welcome to book your party for as many children as you like. Up to 15 participating children are included in the price, and additional children are $10 each. We'll settle up on the day depending on final attendance. Of course, infants under the age of 1 don't count toward the 15, and adults don’t count towards your headcount.

What if it rains/is lousy weather?

Please come dressed for the weather. If it is muddy and wet, please wear boots to the farm. Animals are under cover so the show can still go on! If there is severe thunderstorm weather we can do some activities indoors, however the space is our pre-school building and shoes and wet or muddy clothing is not permitted. We may be able to bring a bunny or chicken indoors to pet but most of our animal activities happen outdoors.


What is your cancellation policy?

Please pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your date/time. If you need to reschedule, we will try our best to work with you to find an alternate date/time. If you are unable to reschedule or accept a credit toward a future party, you agree to forfeit your deposit.

What is the general plan for the party?

Staff will lead the fun visiting with the farm animals first. After washing hands, we proceed to do other fun activities and games or take a walk to our enchanted forest playground. The party ends with cake and drinks.

What animals are available to meet? We have a miniature llama, pigs, goats, miniature donkeys, sheep, chickens, a turkey, and cute bunny rabbits. The children will have a blast petting and feeding the animals!


Where do we eat / What is the set up for tables?

We base from the back of the school building where there is a very large overhang that is 30 feet by 60 feet long (1,800 sq. feet) that has overhead party lighting. There is a large center table (71” X 76”) which is perfect for setting cakes, appetizers, food with easy access from all sides. There are 2 wooden picnic tables (28” x 60” each) and two wooden picnic tables (22” X 60” each, not visible in picture) which are perfect for kids. More large folding tables are available, but seldom needed. Scroll down to see pictures below.

What should I bring?

Please bring a cooler with drinks, silverware/partyware for all, and decorations. Please do not forget serving utensils and birthday candles!

Can we bring our own drinks?

Yes, please bring a cooler with ice. Please be advised that NO alcohol (beer/wine) is permitted at Sun Star Farm.


Do you have a refrigerator/freezer?

Yes, although we have limited space available.

Can we bring our own food?

Yes, please bring your delicious food! Please note that there is nowhere to cook/prepare food, however you can plug in food warmers/crock pots, etc. Please do not forget serving utensils!

No one delivers pizza/food here, as we are just a bit too far out in the country. However, you can coordinate to have someone in your group bring food at a designated time.

  • If you have a 10am-12pm party, please have food arrive by 11:15am to ensure that you’ll finish your party in time.

  • If you have a 1-3pm party, you can bring food toward the beginning of your time.


What decorations can I bring?

The choice is yours. We have picnic tables and you are welcome to cover them with tablecloths. If you do bring balloons and decorations, please bring string, tape, or whatever you may need. Please no confetti, glitter, sequin table decorations that tend to blow everywhere.

Will wheelchairs, walkers, strollers work?  Is it far to the farm animals?

The party is behind our school building with handicap access and bathrooms. Our driveway is concrete. From the party area, it is about 100 feet on grass to "Too Short Stables." If it is very muddy, we can make a plan to ensure everyone is part of the fun. Please notify us in advance of guests with mobility issues so we can best prepare.

Who is responsible for supervising children?

We are set up for kids up to age 12 and have swings, play structures, and a sandbox. The yard and animal areas are fenced, yet the supervision and safe behavior of your child, and the children in your party is your responsibility. Our party host focuses on the activity and helping, but cannot keep an eye on all of the children. Please keep an eye on your child while here at Sun Star Farm.

Assumption of Risk...

Under North Carolina law, there is no liability for an injury to or death of a participant in an agritourism activity conducted at this agritourism location if such injury or death results from the inherent risks of the agritourism activity. Inherent risks of agritourism activities include, among others, risks of injury inherent to land, equipment and animals, as well as the potential for you to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to you injury or death. You are assuming the risk of participating in this agritourism activity.

How do I book my birthday party?  Please email Ms. Heidi with the date and time you'd like and we'll reply right away with availability.   Once the date and time is confirmed, you will receive a PayPal invoice to pay the $175 non-refundable deposit.
